Oh, hello. Welcome to my wild, colourful, and eccentric little world. By way of introduction, my name is Jen Kaarlo, and I'm a solo female traveller and modern love writer. There is a lot of gossip about how we should behave, but I’m not one for sticking to outdated expectations. Instead, I want to rewrite the narrative around how deliciously glorious life can be through solo travel & experiences.

When my marriage collapsed a decade ago, I started travelling the world on my own. Think a slightly more modern version of Eat, Pray, Love. I've been to 53 countries, many of them solo, and a few of my favourite destinations are Ukraine, Finland, Oman, and Malta.
You’ll find me writing (and speaking) about my travel adventures, modern love, and what it’s actually like to date again after divorce (let me tell ya, it’s a doozy).
My work has been published in The Independent, Grazia, Stylist, Metro, The Daily Mail, and Sorbet, and I’ve been a featured speaker on BBC Radio.

SOLO FEMALE TRAVEL & Experiences
Some of the best adventures of my life started because I refused to wait around for someone else to pack a suitcase. I’ve now travelled to 53 countries, many of them solo, and discovered that being on your own can be liberating AF, often ridiculous, and sometimes downright difficult.
Through my writing and media interviews, I spill all the tea on what it really means to see the world as a woman on your own. Because solo travel isn’t all Aperols at sunset and making out on La Croisette. There’s paying double for the privilege of sleeping alone, tables for one tucked next to the loo, safety calculations you wish you didn’t have to make, and plenty of people still wondering why on earth you’re there alone.
REFRAMING DIVORCE & Modern Love
For years after my marriage ended, I felt like a big, f*cking failure. While friends got pregnant and moved further afield, my life had imploded, and I was endlessly swiping my way through Parisian DJs, German gaming savants, and plenty of Englishmen seemingly allergic to any suggestion of emotion.
It was one of the hardest decades of my life, but also one of the most rewarding. Somewhere in all that glorious muck, I found the person I most needed to meet: myself. As Live, Laugh, Love as that sounds, it’s true.
Now, I write and speak about divorce, dating, and modern love to challenge the idea that starting again means you failed the first time. There’s a fierce amount of beauty to be found in what comes next.
STORYTELLING & Original Work
I’ve lived a wonderfully vibrant, occasionally bonkers life, and somewhere along the way realised that sharing the messy and complicated bits can make someone else feel a little less alone in theirs. I use my own lived experiences to tell stories that make room for lives we haven’t always seen reflected back at us, whether in an article, on-air, or in the bigger stories I’m currently bringing to life.
I’m working on my first book, following the tales of rebuilding my life in London after getting separated at 32. Think if Bridget Jones and Liz from Eat, Pray, Love had a millennial love child.
I’m also developing a TV pilot inspired by coming back home with my two dads following a breakup. Think Modern Family, but make it modern modern family.
PUBLIC SPEAKING & On-Air Opportunities
Give me a microphone and a topic I care about, and chances are I’ll have a boatload to say. I’ve talked about the mighty trifecta of love, modern dating, and whether soulmates are actually a thing as a featured speaker on BBC Radio, lamented unexpected breakups during a pandemic on podcasts, and led panels on gender equality at FTSE 250 companies.
Whatever the format, I love conversations that are candid, curious, and willing to go somewhere a little less polished than the rehearsed talking points. Whether we’re unpacking why women are still penalised for travelling alone, questioning the happily-ever-after, or wading into the gloriously messy realities of being a modern woman when everyone seems determined to tell us we’re doing it wrong, I bring lived experience, a global perspective, and a healthy dose of humour to the conversation.

From emails and social to countless articles, I love shaping the ideas, language, and strategy that give brands a distinctive voice in an ever-evolving landscape, creating content people don’t simply scroll past, but actually take the time to read.
